Dancing with Dragons

Due to great success of the show and public demand, show extended to May 25th.Original dragon painting is sold, limited addition print is available for purchase.

 

The New Mexico Art League will participate in celebrations marking the Chinese New Year of the Dragon. The Dragon is the fifth sign of the Chinese zodiac and is considered to be the strongest among all the signs. In ancient China, the celestial Dragon represented an emperor and power. Today, it is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success and happiness.

 

NMAL will sponsor an art show from April 4th – April 27th named Dancing with Dragons. It will exhibit works by several prominent artists, teachers, and students. Art League instructor Ming Franz, a native of Taiwan and a well-known Asian art painter will coordinate the show. The media, the public and civic leaders will be invited and this promises to be a very successful event.

 

The reception will be on April 15, from 1 – 5pm, and will include refreshments. Various experts will be demonstrating calligraphy, ikebana, sumi-e, fine tea sampling and advice on Feng Shui. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with the artists and many will be wearing Asian attire. Additional entertainment will be provided by the Okinawa Ladies Dance Troupe, New Mexico Taiko Drummers in the grounds of the League. There will also be a raffle drawing with art prizes.

 

This will be a great opportunity to introduce the local community of Albuquerque and its environs to the customs, traditions, culture and art of Asia.
